Published Nov 17, 2020Lil Wayne has been hit with serious federal weapons charges in the U.S., and if convicted, the rapper could now be facing a lot of jail time.
The U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida has charged the rapper with one count of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon, TMZ reports. If Lil Wayne is convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison.
The charge stems from a December 2019 incident, in which federal U.S. agents searched the rapper's plane at Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport. As TMZ reports, Lil Wayne's lawyer stated the rapper had been "cleared" of any charges, despite guns and drugs reportedly found on the plane, but that no longer seems to be the case.
Lil Wayne is now scheduled to appear in court next month to face the charges.
As of press time, he has not publicly addressed the charges.
