'Tiger King' Ranks as the Most Popular TV Show Right Now
The Netflix true-crime series currently has a 97 percent critic rating and a 96 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes
Published Mar 29, 2020Arguably the wildest series streaming on Netflix right now, the big cat true-crime docuseries Tiger King has stolen the No. 1 spot for the most popular TV show on Rotten Tomatoes.
After remaining in the Top 10 series on RT for the last week, the series has now climbed to the No. 1 spot just above Ozark and Queen of the South, currently sitting with a 97 percent critic rating and a 96 percent audience score on the website. Additionally, Netflix's daily rankings see the series as the highest streamed item in the U.S. as of today.
It's not unbelievable that this absolutely insane series would top the charts, considering Netflix unleashed the series on the public back on March 20, just as coronavirus-related isolation began to take its full effect in North America.
If the show has somehow eluded you so far, do yourself a favour and read its wild description below.
Among the eccentrics and cult personalities in the stranger-than-fiction world of big cat owners, few stand out more than Joe Exotic, a mulleted, gun-toting polygamist and country-western singer who presides over an Oklahoma roadside zoo. Charismatic but misguided, Joe and an unbelievable cast of characters including drug kingpins, conmen, and cult leaders all share a passion for big cats, and the status and attention their dangerous menageries garner.
But things take a dark turn when Carole Baskin, an animal activist and owner of a big cat sanctuary, threatens to put them out of business, stoking a rivalry that eventually leads to Joe's arrest for a murder-for-hire plot, and reveals a twisted tale where the only thing more dangerous than a big cat is its owner.
If you haven't succumbed to the show in these times of isolation already, now may be the time to start watching. Get a sneak peek at what's in store for you in the trailer below.
