Hallmark Channel's Cure for the Coronavirus Pandemic Is a Christmas Movie Marathon
Watching a movie called 'Christmas in Rome' is apparently appropriate right now
Published Mar 19, 2020The world is getting turned upside right now thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, and for further proof of that, we now have the Hallmark Channel deciding to stream a Christmas movie marathon. Because what better way is there to get through this than by binge watching Christmas movies in March?
Hallmark Channel made the arguably insane announcement this morning, revealing it will be doing a "Countdown to Christmas" marathon starting on Friday (March 20). According to Hallmark Channel, though, this is "what viewers asked for."
After all, what better way to escape the looming realities of financial ruin and the fact you can't escape from your self-isolating family than by watching Xmas movies.
On the plus side, Hallmark Channel is typically only available in the U.S., so sane-minded Canadians and Europeans can easily avoid the whole thing.
Film titles include A Christmas Detour, Crown for Christmas, A Very Merry Mix-Up, Christmas at Dollywood and Write Before Christmas.
To add a truly distasteful cherry on top of all this, the marathon will conclude with a movie called Christmas in Rome — presumably set in the hardest-hit country of Italy where the coronavirus has already killed more than 3,400 people.
