Published Aug 31, 2016Los Angeles indie rock trio Cherry Glazerr are the latest act to nab a deal with esteemed imprint Secretly Canadian. The outfit haven't yet announced their full-length debut for the label, though they're celebrating the signing by dropping a new tune titled "Told You I'd Be with the Guys."
A press release explains that lead singer Clementine Creevy wrote the tune after a realization that she needs to "consciously strive for solidarity with other women in order to combat the sexism that is ingrained in our culture and consequentially within herself." Above a coolly paced drum clap and Rickenbacker fuzz leads, she sings, "Where are my ladies? / I guess that was my fault."
Tapping into the theme, the Riley Blakeway-directed video finds band members being steadily enveloped in cars and kitchens by a ho-hum gang of dudes in crimson golf shirts and fresh-pressed khakis.
You'll find the increasingly claustrophobic and buzzy audio-visual piece down below.
Cherry Glazerr's last full-length offering was 2014's Haxel Princess, which arrived through Burger Records.
