Published Nov 13, 2019Videogame adaptations are almost always awful, but perhaps the fact that The Witcher started off as a series of novels is working in its favour. After all, Netflix has already renewed its upcoming series for a second season before the show has even come out.
The Witcher TV series will debut its eight-episode first season on December 20. Starring Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia (a somewhat controversial choice when it was first revealed), the series will be based on Andrzej Sapkowski's book series.
Season 2 of the show will begin production in early 2020, with a launch plan set for 2021. The news was first reported by Variety.
"I'm so thrilled that before fans have even seen our first season, we are able to confirm that we'll be returning to the Continent again to continue telling the stories of Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri," showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich said in a statement.
